Blog Post -- Thing 8

There is a blog that I routinely read that contains numerous wildlife, conservation, and environmental articles. Here's a description of the man that puts together this blog:
"Dr. Ralph Maughan is a specialist in natural resource and environmental policies and politics. He was born and raised in Utah and Idaho. He has many years experience in Western public lands and environmental issues. Maughan has written several hiking guidebooks in addition to academic books and articles. He is a professor of political science at Idaho State University (Pocatello)."

This is one of the blogs that I have subscribed to in my Google Reader RSS Feed. Today, I found an article through this blog that was posted on the "National Parks Traveler" website (I've also subscribed to their RSS Feed). The article was entitled "Looking Back Two Decades On Managing The Greater Yellowstone Ecoystem." It was a fascinating article about the political issues surrounding conservation and environmental management.

I found it very interesting since environmental education is one of my passions. When I have taught environmental science classes before, most students think of it as a "science" class. When in actuality, it is an interdisciplinary course. This article very much speaks to this. I felt compelled to comment on this article for this reason. Also, I have been using the blog created by Dr. Maughan since I first started teaching in the late 90's. I wanted to thank him for all the great articles, news, and facts he provides for those of us who read his blog.
